Summary

Find Catalogue is designed as a private, local-first catalogue. It does not require an account and does not contain advertising, analytics, tracking, or developer-operated telemetry.

Information stored on your device

Find Catalogue can store information that you choose to enter or capture, including:

This catalogue is stored in the app’s local container on your device. The developer does not operate a server that receives or stores your catalogue. Your device or operating-system backup service may include app data according to your backup settings and the backup provider’s terms.

Camera, photographs, and location permissions

Camera and photo-library access are used only when you choose to take or select a find photograph. Location access is used when you choose Instant Find or request the current location. You can deny these permissions and create records with manually entered or unknown discovery information.

Interactive maps, map search, and OpenStreetMap

Find Catalogue uses services provided by the OpenStreetMap Foundation for interactive maps and place search.

When you open an interactive map, Find Catalogue requests map tiles covering the displayed area. These requests can disclose the displayed map area and technical connection information, including your IP address and information about the application, device, operating system, time, and requested map resources, to OpenStreetMap and its service providers.

When you choose to use the map search feature, the search text that you submit, such as a place name, postcode, or address, is sent to OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim search service so that it can return a matching location. Search requests also include technical connection information such as your IP address and information identifying Find Catalogue.

Find Catalogue does not send your catalogue database, photographs, research notes, record titles, or saved find coordinates to the place-search service as part of a search request.

OpenStreetMap processes requests to its services under the OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy. OpenStreetMap states that service usage records may be used for operating and securing its services, planning, research, and improving OpenStreetMap, including analysing Nominatim searches for missing addresses and postcodes.

Using interactive maps and map search is optional. Your catalogue and its essential record-keeping features remain stored locally and can be used without submitting a place search.

Sharing and exports

Find Catalogue shares information only when you start an export and choose a destination through the device’s share interface. Before an export is created, you choose whether exact coordinates are hidden or included.

When a PDF-and-photos bundle hides locations, supported photographs are re-encoded without embedded metadata, including GPS metadata. A photograph that cannot be sanitised safely is omitted and identified in the bundle manifest. When exact locations are included, the bundle can include copies of the original photographs.

After you share or save a file, the receiving person, app, storage provider, or service processes it under their own terms and privacy practices.

Retention and deletion

Catalogue data remains on your device until it is changed by you or the app is deleted. Deleting Find Catalogue removes its local app container, subject to copies that may remain in device backups or files that you previously exported. The app has no online account or developer-held server record requiring a separate deletion request.

Children

Find Catalogue is not directed specifically to children and does not knowingly collect personal information through a developer-operated service.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when Find Catalogue’s features or data practices change. The effective date above will be updated when a revised policy is published.
